The Course
Bankstown Golf Club has a magnificent 18-hole championship course that will delight players of all abilities.
It offers a true test for even the best golfers, highlighted by the fact that from the black tees the course record is just two-under-par.
Featuring many trees and a challenging layout, the course is a 6,068-metre par-71 test for men, with two par-3s and two par-5s on the front nine and three par-3s and two par-5s on the back nine. Women play an equally enthralling par-72 layout measuring 5,236 metres. Despite benefiting from an extra shot on the 10th, the toughest par-4 on the card for the men.
Tree-lined fairways, well-placed fairway bunkering, and numerous water hazards work in harmony to narrow the landing areas and exert pressure on the golfer to think clearly about club selection, distance control and positioning from the tee.
Beautiful green complexes, feature eye-catching contouring, run-offs and bunkering are a feast for the senses, but golfers looking to score well must not drop their guard as the emphasis is on exacting, exciting and inventive shot making.
Several holes run adjacent to the Georges River, others drift through groves of eucalypts and native bushland. With manicured fairways and excellent greens, the course is invariably to be found in immaculate condition and whatever you shoot, walk off the 18th and you’ll want to come and experience it again at the earliest opportunity.
To whet your appetite still further, a hole-by-hole guide can be found on the club website,
